Is this a metaphor for Hollywood?

I finally got to see 'Django Unchained' last night finally, I never liked Quentin Tarantino's early films; I found they were very derivative and the triumph of style over content. Great dialogue and he knew how to match music to image, but he was not a Kubrick or Michael Powell.
