This is an idea I have been entertaining: an album, but presented in podcast form. This version differs from the original in the the original seven tracks have been edited into one suite.
This album was inspired by two films; 'Interstellar' and 'Passengers'
These films got me thinking about TIME and how it relates to SPACE and ultimately LOVE.
It was written over the last week of March 2025. I created a a tune a day, over seven days.
The music started from bass lines I came up with on a 1963 Fender P bass that had been left in the studio by my friend Rob Groucutt.
Originally it had belonged to his father, Kelly Groucutt.
I realised as I created these tracks that this was the bass Kelly used on the ELO album 'Time'. How mad is that?!
As the seven tracks emerged I started to focus on how one tune inspired the next as the week progressed. The tunes here are presented in the order they were created. 'DO' could have been called 'Monday', 'RE''Tuesday etc.
This album refers directly to the act of creation, which relates to the Law of Seven or The Law of the Octave. It ponders musically on the act of creation as an act which ascends through a series of levels which end with the ascension to the next octave, which is of a substance which hovers between our consciousness and perhaps a universal consciousness.
All the tunes here have a fundamental tempo and relate to the grid, so when you here the tempo changing you are hearing related temporal zones which exist above the fundamental tempo.
And with this information you are now on your own...
